Men’s Club – Our thanks to the Men’s Club for the great hoagies and the opportunity for some great conversations and games. We look forward to the next event.

Flowers – Our thanks to Joe & Sona Hoplamazian for donating the Easter flowers for Holy Week & Easter and the center pieces for our brunch this morning.

House Blessings – Father Mikael would be pleased to bless your home during this Easter season. Please contact Father to make your appointment.

Old palm – Blessed palms are considered sacramentals. To dispose of last year’s palms please bury or burn them. Do not throw them away with your household refuse. If you cannot burn or bury your palms, please bring them to church and place them in the marked containers.

Monthly Financials – For the month of March, our ordinary income was $4,226.00, while our ordinary expenses were $8,618.00. This gave us a deficit of $4,392.00, which was covered by the Easter Collection ($4,130) and Memorial donations ($920).

The GOOD NEWS is that for the current fiscal year, our weekly contributions have risen by some $7,500. Thank you to all who have increased their weekly contributions, have their check come automatically from their checking account or have their contributions come directly from their paycheck. Be consistent with your contributions to better help us plan – an easy way to accomplish this is by signing up for electronic giving through your bank.

Maintenance Fund – The monthly donation for the Maintenance Fund is $20.00. The Fund covers the major maintenance items. If you have any questions on the amount you owe, please contact the office. As always, thank you for your support.

Koffee Klutch – Is your family celebrating a special occasion, birthday, anniversary, retirement, etc. , why not share this happy occasion with your church family by hosting the Coffee Hour following Badarak?

ST. MARKS IS GETTING SOCIAL!
St. Marks Parish is now on Facebook! Please stay connected with us and informed on parish events by “liking” our page.

Visitation of the Sick – If you or someone in your family is HOMEBOUND due to illness, disability, or advanced age, please call Father Mikael so arrangements can be made to bring Holy Communion. In addition, please let Father know when someone is in the hospital.

Newsletter – We are looking for sponsors for our bi-monthly Newsletter to underwrite the cost of the printing & mailing. This can be offered in memory of a loved one, or for a happy event. We are also looking for page donors ($40 per page). We will also accept donations for listing your business Cards. Please see Patrick for further details.

2012 Contributions Statements – have been mailed out to the parish. If you do not receive a statement and you should, please notify Father Mikael. All parishioners are urged to use their envelopes, which are mailed to them. If you do not receive envelopes on a monthly basis, please see Patrick. It is to our benefit and is a good audit procedure for the parish office for you to use your envelopes.

Weekend of 6/13 – 15 – The U S Open will be held at the Merion Golf Club, this week. Those coming to church from the West, may hit traffic &/or congestion due to this event. You may want to consider an alternate route rather than Haverford Ave. (Eagle Rd or Lancaster Ave).

Stewardship – is a word for how we all contribute to the work done at, through, and by St. Mark. It is how we support the priorities and objectives that the church community has set. Our Church’s work is funded completely through the donations of parishioners and their fund-raising efforts.

“Remember the Sabbath day and
keep it holy.” ~Exodus 20:8

Remember your church in your will:
Many members and friends have been blessed and want to give generously to the Lord, but have concerns about health, outliving their resources, etc. One good way to give back to God while balancing our earthbound concerns is to remember the church in your will. For example, some faithful folks tithe
10% (or more) of their estate to the church. After our worldly cares are over, what a wonderful legacy to our faith!

Membership info update – Have you changed your phone number? Have you moved or are you preparing to move soon? Do you have children no longer living at home? Have a new e-mail address? Have you received our recent emails?

Please help us keep our records current by contacting the office at 610.896.7789

Parish Outreach – There is nothing worse than an empty belly. There is nothing more senseless in this land of plenty than hunger. Please help our parish provide for those less fortunate. The list is simple. The need is great. Please help by bringing a food donation next Sunday. Please bring your can goods to the container in the church hall.

Sacred Heart of Jesus – Jesus has promised a special gift for those who are devoted to his Sacred Heart, including his promise that the person will not face death unprepared and will have the chance to confess and have Jesus in his heart, at that time. His requested devotion with the essential prayers and acts, including the “First Friday” and Nine consecutive months promises, with the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion and along with Badarak is offered on every first Friday of the month, the next 1st Friday will be May 3, 2013 at 5:30 pm.

PARISH NOTES:

House Blessings – If you would like to have your home blessed during this Christmas Season, please make the necessary arrangements with Fr. Mikael.

The annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity – began, on Friday, January 18, and continues through Friday, January 25. The theme for 2013 is “What Does God Require of Us?” (cf. Micah 6: 6-8) Join with Christians around the world praying “that all may be one… that the world may believe” (John 17:21)

Year of Faith: In the Acts of the Apostles, we learn that God has opened the door of faith for the early Church. But did you know that God has opened the door of faith for each one us and he invites us to step through the threshold into a deeper relationship with him. The Year of Faith is an opportunity for every Catholic to turn towards Jesus Christ, encounter him in the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist and rediscover the Faith and Church.

Visitation of the Sick. If you or someone in your family is HOMEBOUND due to illness, disability, or advanced age, please call Father Mikael so arrangements can be made to bring Holy Communion. Also, please let Father know when someone is in the hospital.

2012 Contributions Statements – have been mailed out to the parish. If you do not receive a statement and you should, please notify Father Mikael. All parishioners are urged to use their envelopes, which are mailed to them. If you do not receive envelopes on a monthly basis, please see Patrick. It is to our benefit and is a good audit procedure for the parish office for you to use your envelopes

Eparchy Calendars – have arrived and most have been distributed, if you have not received your copy, please see Patrick for your calendar.

Contributions at St Mark – We have listed below the weekly collections for the past five weeks and, as you can see, they are steadily below what we need to meet our monthly bills. This is of great concern, because without the continued support of our parishioners, St. Mark Parish would not be able to function.

Dec. 16, 2012 – $441.00 (better)
Dec. 23, 2012 – $295.00 (back down again)
Dec. 30, 2012 – $158.00 (Parties ??)
Jan. 6, 2013 – $431.00 (Good Beginning?)
Jan. 13, 2013 – $342.00 (the flu?)

Our average weekly expenses are $2,332.

Newsletter – We are looking for sponsors for our bi-monthly Newsletter to underwrite the cost of the printing & mailing. This can be done in memory of a loved one, or for a happy event. We will also accept donations for listing your business Cards. Please see Patrick for further details.

House Blessings – If you would like to have your home blessed during this Christmas Season, please make the necessary arrangements with Fr. Mikael.

Year of Faith: The Christmas Mystery
“Jesus was born in a humble stable, into a poor family. Simple shepherds were the first witnesses to this event. In this poverty, heaven’s glory was made manifest. To become a child in relation to God is the condition for entering the kingdom. For this, we must humble ourselves and become little. Even more: to become ‘children of God’ we must be ‘born from above’ or ‘born of God.’ Only when Christ is formed in us will the mystery of Christmas be fulfilled in us.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church Nos. 525-526)

Thank You – to our Parish Organizations, which have turned over to the Church, $12,000.00. We owe our sincere gratitude to all who worked so hard during the year and to those who supported their works.
Your Christmas gift to your parish . . . will, we know, reflect your appreciation of God’s goodness to you. We thank you for your generous sacrifice at both Christmas and all year through.
